DFS Tournament plays for Week 8 of the NFL regular season

Last week’s recommendations and their DraftKings points:

  • Matt Ryan: 22.44
  • J.D. McKissic: 9.60
  • Calvin Ridley: 12.60
  • Ricky Seals-Jones: 11.10
  • Jets DST: -3.00

Of course, the Jets decided to have their worst game of the season last week. That was a real downer for this lineup, especially with McKissic also having a bad game. Ryan and Seals-Jones played up to their value last week though. Let’s get back on track this week.

The DraftKings budget sits at $50,000 every week. In tournament settings, the winners are usually around 200 total fantasy points. This means that players need to score an average of four points per $1,000 spent to potentially hit the jackpot. When assessing players, it is important to keep this in mind. A player like Derrick Henry would have to score around 35 fantasy points to equal his cost. This is why these articles choose players with lower salaries. Being able to get players with upside to match cost is how tournaments are won. These are the DraftKings weekly DFS tournament plays for Week 8 of the NFL regular season.

DraftKings DFS Plays for Week 8 of the Regular Season

Jameis Winston and the Saints march into Week 8 to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. With Winston not playing well so far this season, he is not likely to be a highly owned player this week. At just $6,000, Winston could definitely play above his value this week. Teams have to attack the Buccaneers through the air. Expect Winston to thrive this week, especially with Tre’Quan Smith being back in the fold with another full week of practice with the Saints.

Alex Collins could be in line for most of the running back work again this week for the Seattle Seahawks. Last week, Rashaad Penny returned and carried six times, but this did not damper Collins’ production. Collins ran the ball 16 times and caught another pass. Getting 17 touches, even after Penny’s return, is good news for Collins’ value going forward. This Seahawks team has struggled without Russell Wilson, but playing the Jaguars at home in Week 8 should allow some production. Collins’ price is right as well this week, being only $5,300.

Chris Godwin should be heavily involved in the Buccaneers passing offense

Chris Godwin will likely be the primary pass-catcher for the Buccaneers this week. The Saints are not a team that can be run against, so expect Tom Brady to throw most of the time for the Buccaneers offense. Mike Evans will draw one of the league’s best cornerbacks this week in Marshon Lattimore. Antonio Brown will also miss this game due to an injury. Godwin will be the beneficiary of these situations. Godwin’s cost is a bit high at $6,400, but 10 targets are not out of the realm of possibility this week.

Hunter Henry has scored a touchdown in four straight weeks. He has also been targeted 19 times in these games. This will also be the Henry revenge game as the Patriots face the Chargers this week. Henry costs just $4,200 this week. It is possible that DFS players will shy away from Henry this week thinking that this trend could not continue. Mac Jones trusts Henry and looks for him in the red zone. That is enough to keep him relevant in fantasy contests.

Sample Lineup for Week 8:

  • Jameis Winston, $6,000
  • Alex Collins, $5,300
  • Chris Godwin, $6,400
  • Hunter Henry, $4,200
  • Bills DST: $3,300

The Buffalo Bills are coming off their bye week and only priced at $3,300? This seems like it could be a homerun spot for this Bills defense. Pairing them with the rest of these selections leaves DraftKings players with $24,800 for the other four selections. This allows players to pay up for premium players of their choice. Some options which could finish at the top of their positions are Courtland Sutton, D.K. Metcalf, or Deebo Samuel at the wide receiver position. Some running back pay-up options include Joe Mixon, Najee Harris, Nick Chubb, and James Robinson. Good luck in your DraftKings Week 8 tournaments.
