DFS Tournament plays for week five of the NFL regular season

Last week’s recommendations and their DraftKings points:

• Tony Pollard: 14.30
• Marvin Jones Jr: 3.50
• Ja’Marr Chase: 30.90
• Zach Ertz: 1.70
• Arizona DST: 8.00

Well, at least last week’s lineup did not curse any player to the injury reserve list. Pollard, Chase, and Arizona returned great value on their cost for the week. Unfortunately, Jones Jr. and Ertz let teams down. Jones Jr confusingly took a backseat to Tavon Austin, Jamal Agnew, and Dan Arnold for the Jaguars on the week. Meanwhile, Ertz was disappointing given the opportunities. Ertz had the second highest targets of any Eagles pass-catcher in week 5, but only turned six targets into one catch for seven yards. The volume was there though, Ertz’s reemergence will continue. Week 6 of the NFL regular season is upon us and these are DraftKings DFS tournament plays for the main Sunday slate.

DraftKings DFS Plays for Week Six of the Regular Season

Joe Burrow enters week 6 priced at the eighth-highest quarterback on the DraftKings board. At $6,300, Burrow provides value and incredible upside this week. Quarterbacks in front of him could potentially be facing strong defenses such as Dak Prescott in New England, Kyler Murray in Cleveland, or Aaron Rodgers against Chicago. Burrow has two or more touchdown passes in every game this season for the Cincinnati Bengals. He has also thrown for 260 or more yards in three of the games. Burrow gets to face the lowly Lions in week 6, giving Burrow the opportunity for a big week.

To say that the Indianapolis Colts secondary is banged up would not nearly be strong enough. The Colts have Xavier Rhodes, Andrew Sendejo, Kemoko Turay, and Rock Ya-Sin ailing going into their matchup with the Houston Texans in week 6. Enter Brandin Cooks. Texans quarterback Davis Mills seems to feed the ball to Cooks in most matchups. Cooks has been targeted seven or more times in four the Texans five games so far this season. After being held to just 23 yards in week 5, Cooks should bounce back against the weak Colts secondary while just costing $5,800 on the week.

Take the discount with Mark Andrews this week. Andrews’ big Monday Night game means his price was not priced up in time. The Baltimore Ravens offense looks to finally be finding their groove and Andrews is Lamar Jackson’s favorite target, especially in the red zone. Andrews is priced at just $5,200 this week. He is likely to be a popular play this week but with so few options at tight end, taking the scratch is okay for this position.

Pairing a quarterback and skill-position player is a common strategy in DFS plays. This week, there are countless Bengal players worthy of playing. This can be Joe Mixon, who will likely once again take over as the bell-cow back this week. It could be any of the wide receivers who produce nearly every week. Tee Higgins is the lowest priced receiver and might be worth the value at just $5,300. Higgins came back off injury last week and had seven targets from Burrow. In Higgins’ last game before injury, he got a whopping 10 targets. Fit any of these guys in your lineups based on price.

• Brandin Cooks: $5,800
• Tee Higgins: $5,300
• Mark Andrews: $5,200
• Packers DST: $3,600

Paying up for a defense this week is likely needed. There are few defenses playing well right now but the Packers get rookie Justin Fields in week 6. Fields has not looked NFL ready so far this season and the Packers DST should be okay this week. With the rest of this lineup, it leaves $27,400 left to spend. This much will allow players to pivot to multiple players to round out lineups. Paying up for someone like Austin Ekeler or Devante Adams is achievable with this salary remaining.
