CSC’s Fantasy Start/Sit, Saints vs. Eagles: is either QB worth playing?

The New Orleans Saints face Philadelphia Eagle rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts in his first NFL start

Start: Taysom Hill

The Philadelphia Eagles defense ranks 14th against fantasy quarterbacks this season, giving up right around the league average of 16 points per game to opposing QBs. They have been playing well recently too, holding Baker Mayfield, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers all under 24 points in their last three games. However, Hill’s heavy involvement in the New Orleans Saints offense still warrants him a starting spot this week. If he can run for a touchdown or two like he has in the past, I believe he should finish on the lower end of the top-10 for QBs this week.

Sit: Miles Sanders

Nothing else needs to be said about the Saints run defense, it is by far the best in the league. They haven’t allowed more than 10.5 points to opposing backs since Week 5, and Miles Sanders has had a rough time getting back into the swing of things since returning from injury. A new running QB starting for the Eagles could mean Sanders gets increased carries, but the Saints should easily be able to commit to stopping the run this week, and the only thing that could salvage Sanders’s week would be multiple goal line scores.

Sit: Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles have finally benched Carson Wentz, only seven weeks too late. Time will tell if rookie Jalen Hurts is the future in Philly, but for now, he is facing the leagues 4th ranked defense against fantasy QBs. The Eagles offense has been struggling as a whole lately, and I simply do not trust Hurts to put up great numbers against a tough defense in his first start. It will get easier for the former Alabama and Oklahoma product, as he has two favorable matchups after this week, but for this contest, he should be avoided.
