In this week’s poll question we asked which draft pick by the New Orleans Saints, other than their first round pick, were you most excited about.
⚜️WEEKLY POLL QUESTION⚜️
Other than Taliese Fuaga, which of the #Saints draft picks are you most excited about?

After 699 votes, Alabama CB Kool-Aid McKinstry won with 59.8% of the vote. McKinstry was a borderline 1st round prospect that the Saints got near the top of the 2nd round. He comes at a position that is in desperate need of depth, as the Saints have been unable to get through a whole season without a starting corner missing significant time over the last few seasons. With arguably the best name in the draft, Kool-Aid comes in with the potential to be the Saints top defensive back for the foreseeable future. This is why the Saints traded up to select him with pick #41, right before two other corners went immediately after with picks #42 and #43. McKinstry was a two time All-SEC first team player and was named a first team All-American in 2023.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler earned the second most votes with 31.8%. Like McKinstry, Rattler was a 5-star recruit out of high school, but unlike McKinstry, Rattler had to battle through some adversity in his college career. Rattler originally attended Oklahoma, where he would start for one year before being benched for this years’ #1 overall pick Caleb Williams. Rattler would transfer to South Carolina where he would prove he was still one of the better QBs in college football, throwing for 3,000+ yards and 18+ TDs each of his two years in Columbia. He would later play in the Senior Bowl and be named the games MVP. Despite this, he was still available in the fifth round for the Saints to draft as the seventh QB taken in the 2024 draft. Rattler may not play this year or next, but he easily has the potential to do what Jordan Love did last year for Green Bay and develop into good starting QB with a few years under his belt backing up Derek Carr.
Both picks should factor heavily into the Saints future, as if they both reach their potential the Saints will have another top level corner to follow Marshon Lattimore and one of the most talented QBs in this draft class. Which are you most looking forward to seeing develop in the future?
