Changes are coming for the New Orleans Saints this offseason, and that might be a good thing for Chris Olave and the rest of the offense.
Shortly after this year’s regular-season finale, the Saints parted ways with offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael. He held that title from 2009-2023.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints are expected to make 49ers passing game specialist Klint Kubiak their new offensive coordinator. That move can’t be finalized until after the Super Bowl.

Olave is in Las Vegas this week as part of Bounty’s House of Wingman experience. During our discussion with the former first-round pick, we asked him about the Saints making a change at offensive coordinator.
If the Saints officially hire Kubiak, their offense will most likely feature a ton of motion. That would give that unit a more modern look, which Olave is certainly a fan of.
“I feel like that’s where NFL offenses are heading,” Olave told The Spun. “The 49ers offense, the Rams offense. That’s what’s going on more in today’s game. You know what plays are coming in certain coverages with different motions and things that setup the defense to make it look different. I’m definitely excited to see what way we’re heading and where we’re going next season.”

Of course, the Saints can only get things rolling on offense if their quarterback is thriving in the system. Derek Carr had plenty of ups and downs during his first year with the Saints. It’s hard to forget the moment where he yelled at Olave during a Thursday night game against the Jaguars.
Although it wasn’t always pretty in New Orleans this season, Olave thinks his connection with Carr has only gotten better.
“Just to get the first season under out belts is huge for us. The game is really about chemistry and knowing what the quarterback is going to do. Having that relationship with him is huge. Everyone wants things to be good in sports, but I’m glad that we went through the bumps because it’ll allow us to grow in the future.”
Only time will tell if the Saints made the right call pursuing Kubiak. From the outside looking in though, it seems like he has what it takes to help New Orleans snap its postseason drought.
