With the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching, the Kansas City Chiefs could soon receive several calls, and this could include one regarding cornerback Joshua Williams. The expectation is that the Chiefs might be willing to trade Williams since he hasn’t done much in this heavy secondary room. It wouldn’t be the first time that the Chiefs decide to trade a cornerback, as they did in L’Jarius Sneed a few offseasons ago. However, this isn’t a trade that the Chiefs wouldn’t mind, as there isn’t any chance that Williams will get a starting role, as Trent McDuffie is shining, and they signed Kristian Fulton for depth this past offseason.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Williams isn’t the most impressive cornerback, but he is looking for an opportunity. One source thinks that the Cowboys could make that move and give Williams a chance to solidify a role in their secondary unit. The future for starter Trevon Diggs looks bleak, and the Cowboys are expected to part ways with Diggs after the 2025 season, which would free up $50 million in cap space. While Williams fits into what the Cowboys are looking for, it shouldn’t be a surprise if these three teams contact the cornerback and outbid Dallas.
