CBS Sports analyst omits Saints from top-100 players list

Not a single Saints player made Pete Prisco’s top-100 player list.

Last week, CBS’ Pete Prisco released his top-100 NFL players, and there wasn’t a single New Orleans Saints player on the list.

Let’s be honest, there wasn’t a whole lot to like about the Saints in 2024, but it felt like there were at least a few players who could’ve landed on this list.

The most notable omission is Alvin Kamara, who had one of the most productive seasons of his career. Kamara’s 1,493 yards were the fourth most of his career and his eight touchdowns were the fifth most of his career. He set a career-high in rushing yards (950) while rushing for over 4.2 yards per carry. When you consider the fact that Christian McCaffrey, who played four games in 2024, was No. 41 on the list, it felt like Kamara could’ve been here too. I don’t think he needed to be top-50 or anything, but I think he was right around that 100 mark.

Another Saints player who could’ve made the list is Demario Davis, who totaled 136 tackles, two sacks and seven passes defended in 2024. He’s been one of the best linebackers in the league for years now, and it feels like he never gets the recognition he deserves.

Bobby Wagner was the last LB on the list at No. 88, and he recorded 132 tackles, two sacks and four passes defended in 2024. PFF also gave Davis a higher defensive grade (73.4) than Wagner (69.6). I’m not trying to diminish what Wagner did, because he was great for the Commanders, but statistically, Davis had a very similar season and was left off the list.

There isn’t really an argument to be made for any other player on the roster making the top-100, and I don’t completely disagree with the Saints being left off, but I think Kamara and Davis should’ve really been considered for this list.

There were a couple former Saints who cracked this list, the most notable of which was Trey Hendrickson, who ranked 26th after leading the NFL in sacks last year with 17.5. Zach Baun, who is just one year removed from being on the roster, also made it at No. 40 after finishing as an All-Pro and Super Bowl winner in 2024.

The real NFL Top-100, which is voted on by the players, has already started being release. So far 100-91 have dropped, and the rest of the list will follow throughout the next few weeks. We’ll see if any Saints players crack the list, but the odds aren’t in their favor.
