Former Saints head coach Sean Payton is heading to the Mile High City.
It was announced this Tuesday that Payton has been traded from the Saints to the Broncos.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will send a first-round pick and an early pick to the Saints. They will receive a pick from New Orleans in return.
“The #Saints and #Broncos just finalized the deal on compensation and sources say New Orleans gets a first-rounder and an early pick — likely a 2nd rounder — but also give a pick back,” Rapoport said. “Complex deal but now done. Sean Payton will be the #Broncos coach.”
Payton is a proven winner to say the least. He had a 152-89 record as the head coach of the Saints.
The No. 1 priority for Payton will be to fix Russell Wilson. If he can do that, he’ll have a chance to succeed in Denver.
The Broncos had a 5-12 record this past season.
