Breaking: Ravens Latest Signing Could Signal a Trade?

June 19, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After signing cornerback Jaire Alexander to a one-year contract, the Baltimore Ravens may consider trading veteran Marlon Humphrey. According to the breaking news, the Ravens are finally bringing some relief to their secondary after losing Ar’Darius Washington to a season-ending injury. Alexander might be on a one-year deal, but that could all change if he impresses and plays better than Humphrey alongside 2024 draft pick Nate Wiggins. The Ravens will likely keep him until his contract expires, but that is all dependent on how he can maneuver around now that they have Alexander in their unit.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product became one of the key contributors for the Ravens’ pass secondary, making it to four Pro Bowls and becoming a two-time All-Pro. There is no way that the team will release the long-term cornerback, but there were some rumors earlier this offseason that suggested the Ravens could cut him due to salary cap space. This will never happen, and they will probably make Humphrey available in a trade if it comes down to his production slowing down because of age. Alexander and another free agent signee, Chidobe Awuzie, might not last long part of this group, but there’s a chance that Alexander could find his footing in Baltimore.

While Humphrey isn’t officially on the trade block, anything can happen within these next few months, so here are four teams that may acquire him if he’s available.

Possible Destinations

New Orleans Saints

Following a disastrous 2025 offseason, the New Orleans Saints are in the worst position to win offensively with the ball led by either Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough. Even though they’ve been upgrading their trench defense, the Saints have yet to add anyone in the secondary. Kool-Aid McKinstry is the only secondary guy that has potential, but not so much for Alontae Taylor. If they can take the risk, they should get a solid veteran in Humphrey to turn this secondary rich in talent.

Carolina Panthers

Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers have been doing their part to upgrade their entire roster, even though they’re nowhere near being postseason contenders. Between Michael Jackson and Jaycee Horn, the Panthers could use a significant upgrade being as Trevon Moehrig is joining the safety unit this year. Humphrey could win the starting job in Carolina and would be a viable piece alongside Horn.

Washington Commanders

While the offense is explosive for the Washington Commanders, the team is still lacking efficiency in its defense. Despite signing Jonathan Jones, he won’t single-handedly be the long-term solution. With Marshon Lattimore getting back to full health, they should go all in for Humphrey to pair with him as one of the most dangerous secondaries in the NFC.

Los Angeles Chargers

However, the Los Angeles Chargers need another cornerback since they will look dramatically different this upcoming season. Despite signing Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste this offseason, 2024 draft pick Cam Hart has big shoes to fill. The Ravens would never trade their long-time veteran to a rival, but it’s hard to ignore the fit he has in Los Angeles.
