Even though it’s still early in the 2025 regular season, the Carolina Panthers could trade quarterback Bryce Young in a blockbuster deal. While there haven’t been any concrete rumors that the Panthers are trying to move on from Young, there is still a possibility that it could happen later on during the season. Earlier reports predicted that a trade after the season this year wouldn’t be a crazy idea. This comes after the Panthers got a promising offensive playmaker, Tetairoa McMillan, and a few defensive stalwarts to give Young plenty of chances to stay on the field.
However, Young is coming off one of his worst performances against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It got so bad that Young said something to head coach Dave Canales before slamming his helmet to the ground, so this is something to monitor as the relationship looks to be muddy. Originally selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product is coming off his worst season last year, and this would make it his third-straight year that hasn’t been productive. It would be a huge blow either way for the Panthers if they can’t figure out how to bring out the best in Young.
This washes away the confidence and momentum that they had this past offseason. If this continues into Week 5, then many should expect him to be available for a trade.

Breaking: Panthers Blockbuster Bryce Young Trade Could Be Possible? – 3 Potential Destinations
Possible Fits
New Orleans Saints
It was the battle between Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough throughout last offseason, with Rattler winning the job. However, the Saints will need to closely monitor the quarterback situation because even though Rattler had a promising preseason, he wasn’t able to deliver a win in Week 1. If he can’t give New Orleans what they want, then it might be time for head coach Kellen Moore to pull off a trade to start anew. After years of refusing to rebuild under general manager Mickey Loomis, the Saints are now finally able to do so since the Drew Brees era.
While Young probably won’t do much to change the situation in New Orleans, it gives Moore and this offense, which has new receivers in DeVaughn Vele and Trey Palmer, something to look forward to if Rattler can’t live up to the hype.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are never going to replace Justin Herbert anytime soon for the next eight years at a minimum. Trey Lance had an impressive 2025 preseason with the Chargers, and even though he’s serving as the backup, when will he get a decent chance? This might be the moment for Lance to become a full-time starter and join the Panthers while they do Young a favor to develop slowly behind one of the best offenses in the AFC.
Washington Commanders
Just like the Los Angeles Chargers, the Commanders are not moving on from Jayden Daniels. Despite that, they could be open to trading Marcus Mariota since he’s winding down in his career. Mariota joining the Panthers gives him one last chance to make a run in the playoffs, especially since he looked good in the regular season finale last season.
