If the New York Jets endure another disastrous season, one NFL Insider predicts the team could trade running back Breece Hall during the campaign. While new head coach Aaron Glenn does not have plans to trade Hall after being a subject of those rumors this offseason, it doesn’t mean he won’t consider it at all. Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report believes the Jets will trade the running back if things don’t go their way, despite signing a new quarterback, Justin Fields, after having one of the most disappointing years last season under former quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
It’s unlikely it might happen, but anything can happen, as this will be Fields’ real legitimate chance to be a starter for a squad that looks to stick by him. Hall is already in a bad position as he enters the final year of his contract, since he has yet to eclipse 1,000 yards in one campaign. Originally selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Iowa State product is hoping to change things around this upcoming season as Glenn will establish a run-oriented offense, so maybe he has some type of chance to win the starting job between Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. With that, it wouldn’t make sense to trade away Hall either way before the season.
They want to run the football more similar to what Jim Harbaugh has in Los Angeles, but these four suitors could be the best match for the running back if the Jets move on.

Possible Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
Despite signing Najee Harris and drafting Omarion Hampton, the Los Angeles Chargers aren’t set for the longevity of their run game. Jim Harbaugh wants a physical backfield to help support Justin Herbert, but they could use some speed in their unit. Harris might be a one-time deal since they got Hampton in the first round and will likely make Harris expendable at the end of the season. They will need a reliable backup, and Hall is more than capable of providing some bolstering in their department.
Dallas Cowboys
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have one of the worst running back units in football. Between Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams, 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue has a lot more upside to be the long-term deal in Dallas. This isn’t to say Sanders or Williams don’t have a serious chance, but both are past their high level of play. Perhaps, they could trade for Hall to push the Cowboys if they find themselves in the thick of the playoff race.
New Orleans Saints
However, the Saints will likely be leaning on the run game and defense since they’re without a capable quarterback on their roster after Derek Carr’s retirement. Alvin Kamara is one of the league’s best runners, but he’s aging, and even though they signed Cam Akers, they need someone who’s eventually going to take over the offense when Kamara retires. Hall won’t start, but he’s a better option over Akers.
Kansas City Chiefs
Isiah Pacheco is entering the 2025 season on the hot seat. The Chiefs can’t afford to have a questionable backfield room, so they’re better off trading for Hall as soon as possible. Despite signing Elijah Mitchell, it only provides some short-term relief behind veteran Kareem Hunt, who is running out of gas and might sign elsewhere next season since the Chiefs might not compensate his next deal.
