While the Dallas Cowboys are open to more trades, they could be available to trade cornerback Trevon Diggs. According to a source, one NFL insider believes that the secondary has been one of the worst for the Cowboys and might be willing to trade Diggs at some point. This is true since the Giants’ quarterback, Russell Wilson, put up almost 500 passing yards, which is unacceptable for a secondary unit that was just without DaRon Bland for one matchup. However, Diggs was one of the several secondary guys who were torched by wide receiver Malik Nabers, and if that continues to happen, they might as well bench him and find a trade partner.
Originally selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product is still under contract, but the same source believes 2025 draft pick Shavon Revel Jr. may eventually take over Diggs’ starting role. However, it’s still early in the season, and anything can happen as the Cowboys are always listening to trades. Diggs and Bland were supposed to be the future of this secondary room, but they haven’t been able to perform up to the organization’s liking, and with the extension of Bland, this could only mean that they will trade Diggs to create some cap space. It’ll be interesting to see what Dallas does as the team will take a close look at Diggs and his performance for the rest of the season.

Possible Next Teams
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have one of the worst secondary units in the league. Even if they find a way to have some life in their offense led by quarterback Spencer Rattler, they can’t ignore upgrading the cornerback room. The Saints must do something, and they can’t lean on Kool-Aid McKinstry and Alontae Taylor to make the biggest plays down the stretch. After trading away Marshon Lattimore and letting Paulson Adebo walk in free agency, the Saints are rebuilding a new roster under head coach Kellen Moore.
The new coach would be open to a reunion with Diggs, as the two know each other well enough to probably start over in New Orleans. Diggs might not be playing up to standards, but he might be able to in a new scenery that fits him.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers made several investments this past offseason, from the defensive line to the secondary unit. They signed Tre’Von Moehrig to give some boost in the safety unit while bringing back Michael Jackson and Jaycee Horn in the cornerback room. However, they’re lacking depth, and the team open to trading for Diggs wouldn’t be too surprising. The Panthers aren’t contenders, but it’s never a bad time to upgrade the defensive pass secondary, even though the offense looks atrocious once again, led by quarterback Bryce Young.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are looking like one of the hottest NFC teams despite their loss against the Packers in Week 1. After their win over the Bears, they’re showing that they could be a true threat again. Despite that, they do want to avoid an upset again in the postseason, so they must get enough depth in their secondary, which was a unit that got hit with multiple injuries. Diggs isn’t the most spectacular cornerback, but he could be viable for depth.
