After overhauling the entire offense for quarterback Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears could look to trade for running back Rachaad White before the regular season. According to Alex Kay of Bleacher Report, he thinks the Buccaneers should trade White, and in return, the Bears would send a fifth-round pick. It makes sense for the Bears to receive a running back at this stage of the preseason since Roschon Johnson has been dealing with injuries and has yet to exceed expectations that he would be the long-term starter for the backfield unit. The same case can be for D’Andre Swift, but he is finally healthy; he’s coming off a disappointing campaign last year, recording just 959 rushing yards on 253 carries.
Since the Bears arguably have one of the best offensive lines after making upgrades, they must take advantage of an RB trade before it’s too late. The Buccaneers might want more in return for White, who is already falling down the depth chart to emerging starter Bucky Irving, so it might be smarter for the Bears to trade Swift as well in that same package. The only implication is how this will affect the Bears’ depth, but White should receive more interest from teams, as several rosters are looking to upgrade before the 2025 regular season. White has been the subject of trade rumors either way, so here are three other teams that could propose a trade offer for the Buccaneers running back.

Bears, Buccaneers Connected in Possible Rachaad White Trade; Teams Could Intervene
Possible Fits
Dallas Cowboys
There’s clearly a need for an upgrade for the Dallas Cowboys’ run game between Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams. 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue could turn out to be remarkable in his rookie campaign and change things around for Dak Prescott’s backfield support. The keyword is “could,” and this is why the Cowboys shouldn’t be reliant on that, so they should at least invest in a low-stakes running back like White that has untapped potential. White probably won’t start coming in Week 1 of the regular season, but he might share the snaps with Blue.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to help Justin Herbert with a strong run game, but the outlook for that doesn’t seem promising. With Najee Harris still on the NFI list, they could risk losing him for at least four games of the regular season if he stays on it. 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton will receive the majority of the snaps, but even they can’t afford that to happen since it’s never a good idea to lean on a rookie to lead the rushing snaps more than 95% of the time. White is another old-school, physical type bullet that might fit into what Harbaugh is looking for, and the Chargers should roll the dice on him to see what he could do to change this run game while Harris recovers from his firework injury.
New Orleans Saints
However, the New Orleans Saints have one of the worst run depths in the league, other than Alvin Kamara. Between Cam Akers, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and draft bust Kendre Miller, they could do better in this unit. White might not get the starting reps in the offensive run game, but it should give Kamara some stability and breathing room.
