Bauer: Predicting the Saints’ wins and losses once the season has concluded

New Orleans 2025 season could be better than you think.

OTAs and mandatory minicamp are now in the books for the New Orleans Saints. So, while in the calm before the storm of training camp, I thought I’d do a record prediction for the 2025 season:

Week one vs. Cardinals: W
Week two vs. 49ers: L
Week three @ Seahawks: W
Week four @ Bills: L
Week five vs. Giants: W
Week six vs. Patriots: L
Week seven @ Bears: L
Week eight vs. Buccaneers: W
Week nine @ Rams: L
Week 10 @ Panthers: W
Week 11 vs. Falcons: W
Week 12 @ Dolphins: L
Week 13 @ Buccaneers: L
Week 14 vs. Panthers: W
Week 15 vs. Jets: W
Week 16 @ Titans: W
Week 17 @ Falcons: L
Final record: 9-8

This might be a more optimistic look at the season than others, but my reasons are legitimate. For one, the offense seems to be meshing well together, earning chemistry on and off the field. The team has been able to build chemistry through various events, some of which were organized due to cancelled practices.

Coach Kellen Moore would suggest that’s the whole point.

“It’s really important to build on a solid foundation. That foundation is really built around people first and foremost.” Moore said at the end of minicamp. “So, we certainly spent a lot of time trying to find different avenues and opportunities for all of us to connect and spend time.”

Secondly, the team must feel relieved now that they can finally move past the Dennis Allen and Derek Carr era. The period during which arguments bubbled up from the locker room to the playing field was a severe misstep in continuing the legacy that Drew Brees and Sean Payton left behind.

Luckily, it seems that new head coach Kellen Moore is trying to build some culture. That will undoubtedly lay the groundwork for meaningful connections between quarterbacks and receivers as the season begins.

There is also no lack of a quarterback in New Orleans, that’s for sure. Both Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough have strutted their stuff in OTAs and minicamp, leaving wide receiver Chris Olave looking forward to the upcoming season.

“I don’t think they’re going to come in and have hiccups. I feel like they’ve got a good head on their shoulders, they’ve got a good IQ, and they’re ready to play NFL ball.” Olave said when asked about the QBs. “I’m excited for whoever to get that starting job. They’re both really good.”
