Olave will be a vital part of the Saints in 2025
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton recently highlighted a player who’s the most promising building block on every NFL roster. For the New Orleans Saints, it was wide receiver Chris Olave.
Moton says that teams can build around the players as future cornerstones. For now, he says that they’re up-and-comers who need to work on a few things or establish high-level consistency.
All the players featured on the list are still on their rookie deals and haven’t made the all-pro team or the Pro-Bowl.
How Chris Olave can be a building block
Olave has been one of the top receivers on the team, with over 1,000 receiving yards in 2022 and 2023. However, multiple concussions cut short his 2024 season. Because of the concussions, Olave saw multiple specialists to help get back into football shape.
The concussions that Olave suffered in 2024 caused him to miss nine games. He only gathered 400 receiving yards and one touchdown last season. However, the former Ohio State Buckeye doesn’t seem anxious at all for the upcoming season.
“They said I was okay back in December when they cleared me,” Olave said during minicamp. “It’s just the unlucky situations I was being put in, but like I said, God got me at the end of the day. I’m not worried about nothing.”
In preparation for the 2025 season, Olave has been getting to know the quarterbacks on the roster (Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, and Jake Haener). Through workouts outside of OTAs and minicamp and the actual team practices themselves; Olave says that the young QBs are amazing.
“I don’t think they’re going to come in here and have hiccups.” Olave said during minicamp. “I feel like they have a good head on their shoulders, and they have a good IQ. They’re ready to play NFL ball. I’m excited for whoever gets that starting job.”
