Over the weekend an official working the sideline of a contest between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions suffered a gruesome injury.
The injury happened after Saints running back Alvin Kamara ran into the official’s leg. The official, Nick Piazza, suffered a fractured fibula and tore several ligaments in his knee, according to a report from Saints insider Jeff Duncan.
As Piazza recuperates from his injuries, he received a special gift from Kamara. According to Duncan’s report, Kamara sent a signed football and jersey to Piazza.
Saints owner Gayle Benson also personally reached out.

Piazza is expected to miss the next few months of work as he recovers from a devastating knee injury.
“I really appreciate the messages, care packages and medical treatment,” Piazza told Duncan. “And, if you see Alvin, please tell him thanks. He signed a football and jersey for me. Very nice.”
Hopefully Piazza has a speedy recovery!
