The Kansas City Chiefs made history on Monday by signing franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes to the richest contract in American sports history, tying him to the next 10 years of football in K.C. to the tune of $503 million. It’s a bold strategy, and we’ll see whether it works out for them; but there’s little to complain about having the 24-year old reigning Super Bowl MVP and 2018 league MVP under contract for years to come.
And let’s be clear: Mahomes only got a contract of this stature because he’s accomplished those feats. While they may be great players in their own rights, there aren’t any members of the New Orleans Saints on that same level. But which Saints players would be under consideration for a 10-year commitment?
