“Grateful. After 13 seasons, my time on the football field has come to an end. I’m just a boy from Piscataway, who through this game, became a champion in the sport and a champion for the people. My time on the field may be over, but I’ll never stop fighting for the people,” Jenkins added with a message on Twitter.

Jenkins, a former standout DB for Ohio State, was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 14th overall pick in the 2009 draft. In his rookie season, he helped his new NFL squad to a Super Bowl title.
After opening his professional career with five years in New Orleans, Jenkins made his way to Philadelphia in 2014. There, he earned all three of his Pro-Bowl selections and helped the Eagles to another Super Bowl championship in 2017.
The veteran DB made his way back to New Orleans for the final two seasons of his NFL career in 2020. This past season, the 34-year-old safety logged one interception, five passes defended and 79 tackles through 16 starts.
Earlier this month, Jenkins restructured his contract with the Saints to reduce his base salary to the league minimum in both 2022 ($1.12 million) and 2023 ($1.165 million).
Jenkins finishes his 13-year NFL career with 191 starts, 21 interceptions, 110 passes defended, 20 forced fumbles, 13.5 sacks and 1,044 total tackles.
