Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro lead Heat to franchise scoring record in win over Pelicans

April 12, 2025 by Hoops Hype

The Heat never trailed Friday against Pelicans, pulling ahead by as many as 52 points on its way to the 49-point victory. It’s the second-most lopsided victory in Heat history behind only last season’s 60-point win over the Portland Trail Blazers last season. In addition, the Heat’s 153 points set a new franchise record for the most points scored in a single game. As usual, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro led the way for the Heat. The duo combined for 45 points while sitting out the entire fourth quarter of the lopsided victory.

More on this storyline

Tyler Herro dropped 30 points, but one decision stood out: with under a minute left and a clear path to the basket, he opted for a three-point shot and missed. The Miami Heat fell 119-111 to the Chicago Bulls, a loss with major seeding impact. “That was the shot I was feeling,” Herro said. Bam Adebayo defended the choice, calling it “a killer mentality.” Miami is now nearly locked into the 10th seed in the East. -via Sportando / April 10, 2025

Anthony Chiang: Erik Spoelstra on Tyler Herro’s decision to take a three instead of taking the transition layup in the final seconds: “Here’s what I’ll say is Tyler has a fearlessness that you can’t take for granted. He’s hit so many big shots. He wants to take on anything to help you win and he’s had a lot of big plays offensively, especially in fourth quarters in his time with us. And it’s my job now to also coach him in situational basketball.” -via x.com / April 10, 2025
