The Houston Rockets are looking for help at the point guard position. The Rockets have been linked to a number of players, but most of them come with big salaries attached. Considering Houston is just below their first-apron hard cap, that’s a hard needle to thread.
That challenge has the Rockets looking at more affordable options at the lead guard spot. That’s lead Houston to looking at Jose Alvarado of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Alvarado makes $4.5 million this season, with a $4.5 million player option for next season. That low of a salary makes Alvarado a logical target for Houston. In addition, $4.5 million isn’t too big of an encumbrance on the Rockets cap sheet for next season, should Alvarado opt in.
