The New Orleans Pelicans have set a high asking price for Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones in trade talks. The Pelicans are reportedly seeking a “Desmond Bane-like” package for Murphy or Jones. When Bane was traded to the Orlando Magic, the Memphis Grizzlies received four future first-round picks in that deal, in addition to matching salary.
By setting that is the asking price for Murphy or Jones, the Pelicans are telling teams that they don’t intend to move either, unless they are bowled over with an offer. New Orleans has also let rival teams know that they don’t intend to trade Zion Williamson or rookie Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears ahead of the deadline.
