The New Orleans Pelicans have not yet engaged in trade discussions involving Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy or Herb Jones, according to William Guillory of The Athletic.
Guillory adds that with the team struggling with a 3-21 record, executives around the league are reportedly looking at what it would take to “pry away” assets from the Pelicans’ roster.
Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report said on Thursday that the Pelicans are ready to begin listening to trade offers involving Williamson, Murphy, and Jones.
According to Fischer, the Pelicans are looking to build around Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen.
“The Pelicans are going to hold a high asking price and are going to need multiple first round picks to move on from either of those guys,” added Fischer. “That’s my understanding as of now. But right now, it is pretty clear that the Pelicans with interim head coach James Borrego are moving in a direction of a team built around Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen.”
It was announced on Sunday that Williamson will miss at least the next three weeks with a grade 2 adductor sprain.
