While Ticketmaster has felt the heat lately for its monopolistic hold on ticketing for music concerts and events, it has a strong hold on the sports market, too. Ticketmaster is the ticket provider for 73 percent of NBA teams, according to a SeatGeek spokesperson, and owns at least 59 percent of the market in the NHL, NFL and MLS as well. Last week, SeatGeek CEO Jack Groetzinger testified in front of the Senate Judiciary panel about Ticketmaster, but Ianello believes the same problems lie in sports.
