If Diamond Sports Group emerges from bankruptcy in the coming weeks or months, multiple sources told SBJ the company has discussed eliminating the RSNs for as many as five of its NBA teams: purportedly the Pelicans, Thunder, Grizzlies, Mavericks and Pistons. Although the decision is fluid with insiders saying the number could drop to three teams, sources said those five franchises are aware of their potential predicament and are making contingency plans for their 2024-25 broadcasts — most likely modeling the Jazz or Suns and televising their local games over-the-air for free. They would also each add a direct-to-consumer digital product (similar to Jazz+, Suns Live or ClipperVision), something the league could help expedite.
