With the NFL season about to begin, Elias Sports Bureau has revealed which colleges have the most players on active rosters heading into Week 1.
At the top of the list is none other than Alabama. Nick Saban has produced so many great prospects over the past 15 years, which includes Derrick Henry, Julio Jones, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Calvin Ridley. The Crimson Tide also had a plethora of rookies make NFL rosters this fall, such as Mac Jones, DeVonta Smith, Patrick Surtain II and Jaylen Waddle.
Coming in at No. 2 on the list is Ohio State, as the Buckeyes trail the Crimson Tide by just three players. They’ve sent a plethora of stars to the NFL, like Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Terry McLaurin and Michael Thomas.
LSU has the third-most players on active NFL rosters this season. The Tigers had a loaded draft class in 2020 that featured Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Patrick Queen. That certainly helped out their ranking on this list.
There’s a tie for the fourth spot on this list, as Georgia and Notre Dame both have 35 players in the NFL.
The Bulldogs have sent a handful of running backs and wide receivers to the pros. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, have always developed offensive linemen and tight ends, such as Quenton Nelson, Mike McGlinchey, Kyle Rudolph, Cole Kmet and Tommy Tremble.
The five schools with the most players on active NFL rosters as the season begins, per @EliasSports:
1. @AlabamaFTBL: 53
2. @OhioStateFB: 50
3. @LSUfootball: 46
T-4. @GeorgiaFootball: 35
T-4. @NDFootball: 35— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 7, 2021
That list from Elias Sports Bureau should look a bit different in 2022.
Do you think Georgia, Ohio State, LSU and Notre Dame can catch Alabama for the top spot?
