Paul Finebaum has never shied away from calling out notable college football coaches. Earlier this week, he criticized one of the biggest names in the SEC because of their disappointing performance in Week 1.
During this Monday’s edition of The Paul Finebaum Show, Finebaum put LSU head coach Ed Orgeron on blast. The Tigers lost their season opener to the Bruins by double digits.
“LSU, what happened? I thought somebody was telling us Friday that they were going to knock Alabama off, or at least contend,” Finebaum said, via 247Sports. “Ed O opened his yap and, suddenly, pressure is building on the Bayou.”
Finebaum also called out LSU star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. because he doesn’t believe he gave his best effort against UCLA.
“I think every LSU fan who’s a legitimate fan knows who the best player on that team is. And just watch the end of the game and see what kind of effort he was giving.”
Despite the slow start to the season, Orgeron is confident that LSU will bounce back fairly soon.
“Our team was in a great spirit yesterday,” Orgeron said on ESPN’s Off The Bench. “I believe we have an excellent football team. We’re gonna bounce back. The guys had a good practice yesterday.”
LSU should take care of business this Saturday at home against McNeese State. If Orgeron can’t lead his team to a convincing win this weekend, his seat in Baton Rouge may heat up.
Kickoff for the LSU-McNeese State game is at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
