Olivia Dunne capped off her LSU gymnastics career celebrating a national championship.
The Tigers beat Florida, California and Utah to win the first title in program history on April 20. Although she did not compete in the championship round, Dunne told PEOPLE the team’s victory was extremely emotional and satisfying.
“The first thing I did was start crying right after we won,” Dunne said. “I just felt like my team’s hard work had finally paid off, just four years of working so hard towards a common goal.”
“I think it’s so special to have a group of young women all have a common goal in mind and then work to reach that goal and then win,” Dunne continued. “That is so rewarding.”
LSU’s win means Dunne has a national championship to match the one her boyfriend, pitcher Paul Skenes, won with the Tigers last summer.
Skenes went on to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and is already one of the top pitching prospects in the minor leagues.
Dunne has said she’ll try to get out to see some of her partner’s games this summer, but she’ll also be busy with her own new plans. The New Jersey native announced a partnership with Passes, a subscription-based content creator outlet, on Wednesday.
“I just want to say welcome to my Passes account,” Dunne said in a video. “I’m going to taking you guys behind the scenes, giving you exclusive access to new content, like answering y’all’s messages or just giving you exclusive content like going for a workout or a red carpet or anything in between.”
Even if her days at LSU are over, Dunne isn’t going anywhere.
