LSU=WRU
If you needed more convincing of LSU’s claim as WRU, the good people over at EA Sports offered up its latest piece of evidence.
Monday morning the player ratings for the upcoming Madden 26 game were released and former Tigers Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase both earned the highly coveted 99 overall rating. They’re the only wide receivers to earn that rating in this year’s edition, and two of seven total players in the club. Chase and Jefferson are joined by Lamar Jackson, Myles Garrett, Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, and Lane Johnson.
For Jefferson, this is his third time earning the distinction. After missing seven games in 2023, Jefferson played all 17 games last season and had another stellar year. Jefferson caught 103 passes for 1,533 yards and tied a career-best with 10 touchdowns en route to his fourth Pro Bowl and second First-Team All-Pro season; through five seasons, Jefferson is making Minnesota franchise history as he’s the first Vikings receiver to ever have three 100 catch seasons, and also the first to ever have three 1,500-yard seasons.
Chase is the first Bengals player to ever earn a 99 rating in Madden after winning the triple crown for receivers. Chase led the NFL in catches (127), yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17). Chase earned his fourth Pro Bowl and joined Jefferson as a First-Team All-Pro.
Obviously video game ratings don’t matter nearly as much as actual honors an NFL player can receive like the Pro Bowl or an All-Pro selection, but Madden is the game for the sport in America and it’s really cool that two of our own are considered to be the best of the best. With each accolade Chase and Jefferson earn, it puts them one step closer to one day being enshrined in Canton.
