For better or worse, there isn’t a single basketball coach in the world who can match Kim Mulkey when it comes to sporting unique outfits.
Mulkey, the head coach for the LSU women’s basketball team, often wears loud suits that feature bizarre patterns. As a result, she sometimes gets criticized for her fashion sense.
During an appearance on “Pablo Torre Finds Out,” New York Times critic Wesley Morris cracked several jokes about Mulkey’s style.
“She looks like a muppet blew up on her,” Morris said. “She took Barbie steroids. Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage is growing out of her arms. She’s Hulked out in this picture, so that’s not helping.”
Even though Morris mocked Mulkey at the start of the video, he eventually applauded her for pulling off these unconventional looks.
“Here’s the important thing when talking about these outfits – they’re ridiculous. These are clothes that fit these women. They look good on her. Even with Macho Man bowing out of her arms, she looks comfortable in these clothes. She’s literally screaming at a referee, but she’s kept that button buttoned.”

Mulkey has not responded to these comments from Morris. Honestly, there’s no point for her to do so anyway.
All that matters for Mulkey is that she continues to win games at LSU. She’s done that at a high level since taking over the program in 2021.
