2024 was a banner year for LSU gymnastics and star gymnast Haleigh Bryant was a big part of why they were able to leave Fort Worth as national champions. But there was a moment in time where Bryant’s entire career was thrown into doubt.
In a recent interview with WAFB, Bryant admitted that there were moments during her career where she got so exhausted with being a gymnast that she mulled quitting. Bryant credited her mother with encouraging her to stick with it, telling her not to quit on a bad day.
“There were definitely some days throughout my career – not even just in college, but before I got here – where I wanted to quit. I just wanted to be a normal student. Just enjoy my life and do all those things. But my mom always said, ‘You can’t quit on a bad day…’ She was always right. She always encouraged me to stay with it and I’m glad I did. I’m so, so grateful,” Bryant said.
The advice served Bryant well. In four seasons at LSU, Bryant has helped the gymnastics team win gold, silver and bronze medals at the SEC Championships and three gold medals at the NCAA Championships – including a first-ever national title just a few weeks ago.
The sky is the limit for what Bryant can achieve now.
