Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers were doing a whole lot of talking ahead of their season opener on Saturday. But UCLA football was the one who got the last laugh.
Chip Kelly and the Bruins made, perhaps, the biggest statement of the opening weekend in a dominant 38-27 victory over LSU at the Rose Bowl last Saturday. Dorian Thompson-Robinson had 260 passing yards and three touchdowns, Zach Charbonnet ran the ball 11 times for 117 times and a score and UCLA out-muscled the Tigers in a statement win for the Pac-12.
Orgeron didn’t see UCLA coming. As he walked into the Rose Bowl tunnel before Saturday night’s game, he got into an exchange with a UCLA fan.
“Bring your (expletive) on,” Orgeron told the fan. “Bring your (expletive) on in your sissy blue shirt!”
UCLA got the last laugh. Not only did the Bruins win the game, they then trolled Orgeron and the Tigers with their new Twitter header.
Take a look.

We have a feeling Ed Orgeron and the Tigers won’t want to play the “sissy blue” Bruins anytime soon. There’s a reason SEC teams rarely travel outside of the SEC footprint, especially to play in the West Coast.
That’s not to suggest the Pac-12 is anywhere near the SEC’s talent level. There’s a drastic difference between the two conferences. But the Pac-12 would probably end up earning more respect if more Power Five teams traveled out to the West Coast instead of scheduling neutral-site games.
UCLA is here to stay with Chip Kelly at the helm. LSU, meanwhile, needs to look in the mirror and adjust appropriately.
