On Saturday morning, ESPN’s College GameDay kicked off from Ames, Iowa ahead of a huge matchup between No. 9 Iowa State and No. 10 Iowa.
While that contest will be the primary focus for the show a little later, Kirk Herbstreit and company also took a look at other games going on. During the show, the conversation eventually shifted to LSU.
The Tigers are coming off a season-opening loss to UCLA in which LSU entered as the favorite. Unfortunately, Ed Orgeron and the Tigers struggled on both sides of the ball en route to a 38-27 loss.
That prompted a Herbstreit to have a few tough words for the Tigers. Herbie said he “can’t watch” LSU play defense anymore.
The longtime ESPN college football analyst said he can’t believe what he’s been seeing from the Tigers – especially in last weekend’s game.

Just two years ago, LSU put together a magical season en route to a national title. However, that feels like more than two years ago with how the team has played over the past seasons – and the UCLA game.
LSU gets a much easier test this weekend against McNeese State. In fact, the Tigers will be playing against Ed Orgeron’s son, Cody, who is the starting quarterback for the Cowboys.
LSU enters the game as a 38.5-point favorite. The Tigers and Cowboys kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
