Last year, LSU stunned Alabama in Tuscaloosa in large part because of Joe Burrow’s heroics. Unfortunately for Ed Orgeron, his team won’t be able to rely on Burrow to save them this season.
Nick Saban will never publicly come out and tell the media what he’s thinking, but you’d have to imagine he wants to avenge last year’s loss to Alabama.
Though there are some concerns that this Saturday’s game could get canceled due to health concerns, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has released his early prediction for this SEC bout. It’s safe to say that he’s rolling with the Crimson Tide.
“Normally, this is one of those games that everybody circles and it’s like ‘the game.’ Not just in the SEC, but the whole country can’t wait for Alabama and LSU,” Herbstreit said on his ESPN podcast. “That’s not going to be the case this year. I think Alabama will blow LSU out in every phase, every way imaginable.”
Herbstreit added that he’s interested to see how Alabama handles playing against a huge rival without Jaylen Waddle.
Alabama opened up this week as 28-point favorites against LSU. It’s not a surprising spread when you consider the fact that LSU just lost to Auburn by 37 points.
With so much uncertainty at quarterback for the Tigers, it could be a long weekend against the Crimson Tide.
Kickoff for this Saturday’s game is at 6 p.m. ET on CBS.
