Tigers add a second running back to its 2021 class
LSU’s backfield added another extremely talented running back to its future rotation, with four-star back Armoni Goodwin of Trussville, Ala. signing his LSU letter of intent.
Goodwin was initially committed to Auburn, and had been for over a year. But Goodwin de-committed at the end of November and LSU, who had offered in February of this year, emerged as the favorite to land Goodwin.
Goodwin is a top-100 player nationally and the No. 5 running back in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Goodwin was an All-State selection as a sophomore but injured his ACL and MCL as a junior three games into the season. But Goodwin bounced back and had a strong senior season.
LSU was determined to add a second running back to its 2021 class to pair with Ohio’s Corey Kiner and they found that player in Goodwin.
Physically Goodwin is about the same size as Clyde Edwards-Helaire was when he came out of Catholic High. I believe that means in three years or so you can expect Goodwin to accumulate anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 scrimmage yards and run over Alabama defensive backs on critical third downs.
