Talking season is nigh
One of the underrated parts of LSU baseball winning the national championship, is that it cuts down the dog days of summer. The run in Omaha ate up most of June and now that we’re a full week into July, the college football season truly is just around the corner. But before LSU kicks off the 2025 season in Clemson, they’ll kickoff this year’s edition of SEC Media Days in Atlanta.
LSU will take the podium on day one of SEC Media Days alongside Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt, and representing the Tigers will be Garrett Nussmeier, Chris Hilton, and Whit Weeks.
Nuss is an SEC Media Day veteran, having went last summer. Nussmeier is the third Tiger quarterback to represent the program multiple times, joining Jordan Jefferson (2010-2011) and Zach Mettenberger (2012-2013). Nuss heads into 2025 as one of the marquee quarterbacks across the country and LSU’s hopes of a CFP appearance rest on the fifth-year senior’s right arm. Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns last season in his first year as a starter.
Weeks is the face of LSU’s defense heading into the fall and arguably the best linebacker in the country. Weeks was credited with 125 tackles, 10 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, and forced three turnovers last season and earned First-Team All-SEC honors. Weeks just earned Preseason Second-Team All-American honors from the Walter Camp Foundation and he’s ranked by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 linebacker in the country.
We’re plenty familiar with Chris Hilton, but this stage will be Hilton’s chance to introduce himself to the college football world at large. Hilton was primed for a breakout season last year, but injuries limited him to just six games and one start; Hilton caught nine balls last fall but showed he can be a game breaker with a career-best 243 yards and three touchdowns.
As always, SEC Network will be broadcasting live from Atlanta for the duration of Media Days. If you’re interested, here’s how the week’s rotation plays out:
