Curtis Givens, the four-star guard from Montverde (FL) Academy, committed to LSU on Saturday.
The 6-foot-2 Memphis native chose the Tigers over Indiana, Texas, Memphis and Georgia Tech.
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to LSU,” he said on On3.com.
He most recently visited Memphis (Sept. 22) following a trip to Indiana (Sept. 8) with Montverde teammates Derik Queen and Liam McNeeley. He visited LSU in July.
“Their coaching staff, they showed me a lot of love,” he said on On3. “They’ve been recruiting me since my sophomore year and I feel like they’ve just been there with me through my ups and downs since my sophomore year so that really stood out to me. They’ve been with me since day one.”
“Coach Matt McMahon as a history of developing great guards,” he previously told On3.com. “When he was at Murray State, they had Ja Morant and they had Cameron Payne. He’s a point guard coach who puts the ball in his point guard’s hands and lets them control the tempo.”
He joins power forward Robert Miller in LSU’s 2024 class.
“Curtis is a relentless worker who is not only ready to contribute as a freshman but will also improve each year,” Montverde associate head coach Kevin Boyle Jr. told ZAGSBLOG.
“He is able to run the point and play lock down defense on quick guards, and he is also a threat to a serious 3-point threat at all times when off the ball.
“Curtis is a winner and he has chosen a school and coaching staff that has invested time and energy in recruiting him and believes in him to help raise the level of their program.”
