One of Kim Mulkey’s former players is heading to Baton Rouge
The Kim Mulkey era at LSU is already off to a fast start.
Over the weekend it was reported that one of Mulkey’s former players, rising sophomore Hannah Gusters, would be following Mulkey to Baton Rouge and play for the Tigers. Gusters was a five-star center in the 2020 recruiting class and a McDonald’s All-American. She was the No. 16 overall player and ranked second at her position.
Gusters will be immediately eligible for LSU and has four years of eligibility.
“This is a great opportunity to be part of Coach Mulkey’s first team at LSU and to do whatever I can to help bring our program back to the national spotlight,” Gusters said. “I trust Coach Mulkey and I know what she can do. She built the Baylor program from the ground up and I’m just excited to be part of what she’s going to do at LSU.”
Gusters played in 30 games last season all coming off the bench. She averaged 10 minutes a game and put up 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds. Her best effort was a 22-point game against Northwestern State.
“As a McDonald’s All-American, Hannah was one of the top post players coming out of high school a year ago,” Mulkey said. “Tiger fans will love the immediate impact her skillset brings to our front court. Hannah made tremendous strides as a freshman and we look for her to continue that success in Baton Rouge.”
The excitement behind Mulkey isn’t limited to just on the court, it’s materializing off it as well. Since being named head coach of the women’s team, LSU has had 2.500 season ticket purchases.
