An LSU vs. Alabama football game is usually one of the biggest events of a college football season. This year is a bit different, as LSU has had a hard reset this year after the historic 2019 national championship campaign.
The Tigers lost many of the stars that led the way last year, headlined by Heisman winner Joe Burrow. The team is just 3-4 on the year. While there’s some talent, it is more or less a rebuilding year for Ed Orgeron.
Meanwhile, Alabama is 8-0 at No. 1 in every poll in the country. Former Crimson Tide tight end O.J. Howard is enjoying the LSU collapse this year.
“I honestly think LSU will shock the CFB world today,” he tweeted, before pulling the rug out from under LSU fans reading the tweet. “Most points allowed by a defending National Champ!!”

The LSU defense may certainly be in for a long one against an incredibly explosive Alabama football offense this afternoon. The Tigers are allowing 30.3 points per game this season, putting them down at 73rd in the country. They gave up 44 or more points in their first three losses of the season, to Mississippi State, Mizzou, and Auburn, teams that don’t come close to Alabama’s talent.
The Crimson Tide have the highest scoring offense in the Power Five, at 48.5 points per game. This one could get ugly if LSU’s defense doesn’t have its best performance of the season.
The Crimson Tide and Tigers kick off in Baton Rouge at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
