LSU star Flau’jae Johnson was already considered one of the most likable players in college basketball. That being said, her popularity is about to grow because of her comments about Caitlin Clark.

During an appearance on “The Baller Alert Show,” Johnson praised Clark for elevating women’s basketball as a whole this past season.

“It’s good for the game. Caitlin Clark, say what you want, she’s a star,” Johnson said. “America has gravitated to her and it’s only putting the women up more and more so I love it.

“It’s beautiful for me to see because I’m right in the middle of it. I got to share the court with her two times. She’s a good player. I love it. I think it’s going to give more opportunities for women like me coming up in the next era of college basketball.”

Fans of Johnson applauded her for lifting up her peers. Even people who aren’t fond of LSU gave her props for being such a class act.

“It’s very rare that somebody does a spectacular job of creating their own lane while championing others who are doing the same thing,” David Eickholt of 247Sports said. “Flau’jae isn’t up next, she’s already here. Mad respect.”

“Excited that all these talented women are building each other up and not playing into the expected narrative that its anymore than competition on the court,” one fan wrote.

Another fan said, “Love Flau’jae. Love her game. Love watching her play. I’m a fan for life.”

Johnson will eventually get the chance to showcase her skills in the WNBA. For now, she’ll continue to dominate opponents in the SEC.

This past season, Johnson averaged 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for LSU
