Arch Manning, the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 cycle, is reportedly very impressed with LSU‘s Brian Kelly.
The Tigers have flown under the radar in Manning’s recruitment. Alabama, Georgia and Texas appear to be the front-runners. However, it sounds like LSU is absolutely in the mix.
Evan Stewart, Manning’s high school coach, told ESPN this week that Kelly has made a strong impression on the rising star. That impression could be LSU’s winning ticket to landing the elite prospect.
“No coach has come through and made as strong of an impression as Brian Kelly,” Stewart said as he compared him to past LSU coaches, via an ESPN+ story. “He has a humility and authenticity when you meet him. You feel like you’ve known him forever.”
Kelly won’t have to just sell himself to land Arch, though. Louisiana State University’s football program is one of the best in the business.
With Kelly now running the show, Manning has plenty to consider.
“An LSU offer is the prestigious offer,” Stewart added. “When kids get that offer, it’s very, very special. LSU has the tradition, facilities and recruiting the camaraderie. It’s a very special place.
“It does sell itself. When LSU football is rolling, I don’t think there’s anything as exciting in the state of Louisiana.”
Don’t count LSU out of the running. It appears Kelly and the Tigers are building momentum to land the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 cycle.
