LSU added another national championship to its trophy case this weekend.
The LSU women’s gymnastics team took home the 2024 national championship in Texas. Olivia Dunne and Co. are on the top of the college gymnastics world.
It’s the school’s first women’s gymnastics national title.
“With one performance remaining, Aleah Finnegan delivered a 9.95 on beam to lift the LSU gymnastics team to the first NCAA Championship in program history Saturday afternoon at Dickies Arena,” LSU wrote.
“The Tigers claimed the title with a 198.225 to defeat California (197.850), Utah (197.800) and Florida (197.4375). With the win, LSU became just the eighth program in NCAA history to win the women’s gymnastics championship.”
Angel Reese, who won a national championship in women’s basketball at LSU in 2023, reacted to the national title on social media.
“NATIONAL CHAMPS!! YESSSSS!!!!! Congrats girliessssss!!!🥳🥺😍💜⭐️ @LSUgym,” she wrote.
LSU has been on quite a run lately. The Tigers won a football national title with Joe Burrow, a women’s basketball national title with Angel Reese, a baseball national title with Dylan Crews and Paul Skene and now, a women’s gymnastics championship.
Few do it better than Baton Rouge, that’s for sure.
