LSU’s co-ace finally has his home
It took a little longer than expected, but Anthony Eyanson finally heard his name called.
Eyanson slipped into the third round of Sunday’s MLB Draft, but it was worth the wait as he was picked 87th overall by the Boston Red Sox.
Eyanson certainly made the most of his one year in Baton Rouge as the transfer from UC-San Diego was part of LSU’s dominant 1-2 starting combination. Eyanson went 12-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 20 appearances (18 starts). Eyanson finished third nationally in strikeouts with 152 in 108 innings. Eyanson kept the walks to a minimum with 36, and opponents hit .218 off of him. Eyanson’s 12 wins led the SEC. He was also second in the league in innings pitched, third in strikeouts, and fourth in ERA.
Eyanson was the winning pitcher in LSU’s national championship clinching game against Coastal Carolina. Eyanson threw 6.1 innings and limited the Chants to three runs off of seven hits with one walk and nine Ks.
Eyanson is the third Tiger pitcher to hear his name called tonight. Kade Anderson went third overall to Seattle, while Chase Shores went 47th to the Angels.
